Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has added a new load range to the Roadmaster RM180+(EM) steer tire line to accommodate heavier steer axles.
The RM180+(EM), which is SmartWay verified, is ideal for long haul applications. The tire features a highway tread pattern and optimized footprint to promote even wear. Combined with high tensile strength four-belt construction, the tire is designed to deliver long tread mileage, durability and retreadability, plus low rolling resistance for improved fuel economy.
“Heavier steer axles are becoming increasingly more common in the market, and the addition of load range H to the Roadmaster RM180+(EM) aligns this product’s offerings with the needs of our customers,” says Gary Schroeder, director of Cooper’s truck and bus tire business. “The Roadmaster RM180+(EM) is a premium product that’s been verified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport Partnership as a low rolling resistance tire, meaning it can help fleets continue to be more cost efficient. It’s also backed by a strong warranty and the quality that’s behind the Roadmaster name, making it a popular choice for long haul applications.”

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.has added two sizes to its Roadmaster RM272 commercial tire line. The RM272 is now available in sizes 11R22.5 and 295/75R22.5.
The RM272 is engineered to withstand the demands of drop-deck trailers. Cooper says the tire is designed to ward off irregular wear and damage due to curbing, and the RM272 features a four-belt steel casing with a slightly rounded tread footprint, along with a reinforced shoulder to help withstand extreme side forces.
“Tires in this application are arguably the most abused of any in the trucking industry, and we designed the RM272 to withstand this harsh punishment,” says Gary Schroeder, director of truck and bus tire business for Cooper. “We looked at a variety of tread profiles that could minimize the load on the shoulder rib, and worked toward a design that distributed the load more evenly across the entire footprint so that the shoulder takes on less of the lateral forces.
“Our engineers designed a great tire, backed by a strong warranty and the quality Roadmaster is known for. We know that fleets are continually looking for opportunities to be more cost-efficient, and our RM272 tire can help them to attain this goal.”
Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is adding to its Roadmaster line of commercial tires with the RM332 WB heavy-duty wide base tire in size 425/65R22.5. The RM332 WB is designed for the steer axle in mixed service applications.
Cooper’s RM332 WB is backed by a Roadmaster warranty that offers two retreads within six years.
The Roadmaster RM332 WB has a rib-type tread pattern that Cooper says is specially designed to withstand the rigors of heavy haul driving, on- or off-road, while also providing long tread life and even wear.
The cut and chip resistant tread compound was formulated to meet the diverse performance requirements of mixed service applications. Additionally, the RM332 WB is designed to preserve the casing for retreading, including a protective curb bar on both sidewalls, stone protector ledges in all four circumferential grooves to help resist stone penetrations, and four heavy-duty, full-width steel belts to promote durability in heavy haul fleets.
“Mixed service applications are highly demanding and this new tire stands up extremely well to a wide variety of uses,” says Gary Schroeder, Cooper’s director of commercial vehicle and global original equipment sales. “Our Roadmaster tires provide long miles and are backed by a strong warranty. These advantages, combined with attractive pricing, make Roadmaster a great tire for customers looking to reduce cost-per-mile.”
Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has added 24/7 emergency roadside tire replacement and repair for eligible commercial trucking fleets that are part of the Roadmaster national account program. The new service is called Roadmaster Fleet Service Network.
Cooper says the Roadmaster Fleet Service Network applies consistent pricing for tire and services across the country regardless of location and provides the ease of direct billing.
“With fleets, it’s all about being operational around the clock. Downtime really costs,” says Gary Schroeder, Cooper’s director of commercial vehicle and OEM sales for Roadmaster.
“Our new emergency roadside service keeps our customers rolling day and night. The best news is they won’t pay anything different to get back on the road whether they are stuck in the Carolinas or in California. The price is consistent regardless of location and we make account management easy with direct billing. One call to 1.844 FLEET RX gets it done!”
The company remains dedicated to growing its Roadmaster commercial truck tire business, according to Schroeder. “Not only are we introducing the new Roadmaster Fleet Service Network, but we have also invested in a sales and field engineering team focused exclusively on the commercial trucking business.”
The new sales and field engineering team brings decades of experience in servicing national accounts to the company’s fleet customers. “Our Roadmaster tires provide long miles and are backed by a warranty that offers two retreads within six years. These strengths, combined with our attractive pricing, mean Roadmaster drives down cost-per-mile for our customers. That’s our goal,” says Schroeder.
