Volkswagen Group of America Inc. is recalling certain model year 2016 Toureg vehicles because the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may be improperly calibrated and may fail to warn the driver that tire pressure is low.
Additionally, the tire pressures printed on the safety certification labels are incorrect. The affected vehicles were manufactured between July 7, 2015, and March 3, 2016. The recall potentially affects 366 vehicles with 21-inch wheels.
Volkswagen says a supplementary offer of 21-inch wheels led to an inaccurate update of the tire control tables due to human error. As a consequence the TPMS settings and certification labels were defined incorrectly.
Volkswagen has notified owners, and dealers will correct the TPMS settings and replace the safety certification label free of charge. The recall began May 13, 2016. Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 44M9.
